December Ipsy Bag: Celebration!

It's bag day! It's bag day! It's Ipsy bag day! I don't really know why I'm so excited about it. Probably because the bag itself is cute and I got a product that I'd been eyeing by surprise. Judging by the little postcard, this is the bag to use for all your holiday partying. So let's see how the products stacked up this month

Pop Beauty Bright Up Your Life Eye Shadow Trio in Naturally Bare- $7.20 (Entire palette $24)

Get it in your life

This is a sample trio of the entire 10-color palette. so that's where the price came from .When they said bare, they meant it. I don't go for the natural look with my makeup often. Even if I do, I have several gold, bronze and brown shadows to choose from that give me much more definition than this. I've never had three different colors blend completely into my skin. Even with primer on my eyes, the colors never really popped and it took some work to get them to show up on camera. Maybe if I used a dark base under it, I'd get a better payoff. I really would have chosen a different set of colors from the set. There's a chocolate-looking brown that looks as though it may be amazing. I wouldn't spend the money to find out though. If you're the type that prefers the bare minimum look, you might go for it.

Be A Bombshell The One Stick in Flustered-$16
Get it in your life

I saw this on the BaB website a few weeks ago and got excited about it just looking at it. Imagine the surge of happiness I felt finding out that I would be getting one in my bag this month. It's an all-in-one cream stick. Use it for your eyes, lips and cheeks! The color is a warm bright pink with shimmer, but the shimmer isn't annoying and intrusive.  I used it as a cream blush this time. It goes on really smoothly, but I think it might need to be layered a bit heavily before you powder your face, especially if you have oily skin. The staying power is a bit lacking. The first time, I applied it pretty lightly and it seemed to be gone in a few minutes. The second time, I went a little heavier and blended it out before applying my powder over it to set the rest of my face and subdue the pink a bit.Worked out much better that time and gave a pretty flush to the skin, like I'd been out in the cold.

Nicka K Nail Polish in #139 Ripe Apple $4.99
Get it in your life

I rarely wear nail polish unless I spent money to get a manicure. Despite retaking my survey, Ipsy keeps sending them to me. I did open it to see what it looked like and I honestly feel like it matches the lip pencil. On the plus side, it seemed to dry quickly. I don't care for red nail polish and never really have, so I'll more than likely give this one away with some of the others I've gotten My sister is going to have a very merry Christmas.

J. Cat Beauty Big Lip Pencil in #203- $3.99
Get it in your life

This is the second or third J. Cat product I've received since I started getting these bags. They've been real hit and miss, and I think that's partly because of the color choices available to Ipsy. They sent me this awful nude lipstick once that made me look like Tyrone Biggums from the Chappelle Show. The consistency of the product was great, but the color was awful. This time though, they got it spot on. This red is gorgeous, and this is coming from a girl who was, once upon a time, afraid of lipstick, let alone a red  anything on her lips.I love it. As with all red lipstick that I've ever dealt with, you'll want to be careful to stay in the lip line and blot just to minimize any feathering and bleeding. It's creamy, extremely pigmented and at $3.99, you can't really go wrong.

Andrea Strip Lashes in #33 Black- $3.49
Get it in your life

You can get these lashes nearly anywhere. The ipsy site points to Ulta, but the link I provided is cheaper if you want to order online. Madame Madeline sells lots of different brands of false lashes in bulk and I will certainly be placing an order with them when I run out of my stash. If you're in a hurry, head over to Sally's, Walgreens or CVS and pick up a pair for around $3.99 To be honest, I just got into lashes, so I'm still getting the hang of them. So far, we have a love-hate relationship. I love the look of them, hate trying to get them on. These worked out pretty quickly, though. They're lightweight and perfect if you're looking for a way to kick up your holiday look with some extra fullness. I feel like my eyes look even bigger and doll-like wearing them.

Well, that's all I have for you today, my loves. What did you think of this month's bag? Did you see something you would like to try? Go ahead and speak up! You never know, I might just grant your wish. Until next time, be sure you're following me to get all the updates!
