30 Days of Beauty: Favorite Lipstick (Day 1)

Hi, Loves!
I hope you all had a wonderful NYE and day. I know, I’ve been missing in action, right? Well, here’s my way of making it up to you. I saw this on Instagram and thought it might be fun to do in blog form. I’ll never actually do it on IG because it feels like I’m being annoying. Does that make me weird? I don’t know. But anyway, here I am, late, but trying to right my wrongs. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Favorite Lipstick.

Can we talk about this for a second? I used to hate lipstick, no lie. I felt like it was an old lady product. I remember a day about 6 years ago when I went to the mall and decided to visit one of the Macy’s counters and make my first “high end” brand purchase. I went with Bobbi Brown. I was still learning about makeup so I had no clue what I wanted other than concealer. So. I let the girl make me up and asked her to try a lipstick. Something didn’t sit right with me, and having very full lips, I felt like it drew too much attention to them. She flat out told me I wasn’t ready for lipstick. That was one of the few things she said that made sense, because the experience was otherwise lackluster and her male coworker was quite rude, slick throwing shade at my eye shadow. I say all that to say that I have now amassed so much lipstick that I’ve begun depotting them to save space. I’ve embraced my big ol’ lips and been slathering them in bright colors for about 2 years. It’s hard for me to choose just one favorite. Instead, I’ll go with my favorite for right now.

This is my NYE face, I apologize for the picture. I used the front camera on my phone. The lipstick is a gorgeous bright purple called Heroine from MAC. I almost died when I heard they made it permanent because I went through all kinds of hell looking for the perfect dupe when I missed it the first time. The closest I found was Milani Violet Volt, which is a little bit more pink. $5 versus $15? You can’t really beat that. I found mine at Walmart. Heroine was a Christmas gift from my dear sister though, so I shan’t complain. This is the third MAC lippie I have and I’m beginning to see what people are talking about. I really like the consistency of them, even though they’re matte. They’re dry but they still go on smoothly. Word.
